An Old English Arabian filly, Perseverance Rosala by Malperthuis Khalil out of Vaderland Matrie.
This is the ideal mother stock for producing world class endurance horses. It is not sufficient to produce only the end product for endurance competition; responsible stud breeders must produce the brood stock that produces those final products.
Many think that taking winning endurance horses and breeding them to each other will produce equal or better sport horses.
Well, it's not quite that simple. You have to use the ingredients that made that good cake to make a fresh one.

Perseverance Arabian & Endurance Horse Stud
We are firstly breeders of endurance horses. But we are passionate about preservation breeding as well. This is no coincidence as many of the old neglected bloodlines produce outstanding endurance horses. It makes perfect sense as most of the qualities an endurance horse needs are the same qualities the Bedouin tribesman would value in his desert Arabian, especially needed on raids. Some of the old fashioned “unimproved” bloodlines are closer to the original horse of the desert than the ethereal beauties of the modern showring.
Perseverance Stud preserves Old Egyptian bloodlines brought to South Africa mid last century. Horses such as Barakah, Zahir, Mamdouha and Nabilah. Our yearling colt Perseverance Orient has their blood running strongly in his veins. We also concentrate on the Old English bloodlines that laid the foundation of Arab breeding in this country. These were mostly Crabbet and Hanstead bloodlines. We have bred the colt Perseverance Psychic specially to perpetuate these genes. We are producing individuals to keep these bloodlines available to future generations. In a parallel breeding program we cross Polish Arabian blood with the Old Egyptian/Old English horses to produce more hybrid vigour in endurance horses for sale. An example of this is our young colt Perseverance Magic.
The senior stallion at stud is Jaudet Silwer who is 100% Crabbet. Perseverance Magic has bred some lovely foals and is also available to outside mares. Perseverance Orient will only cover a couple of our mares in his first breeding season.

| Perseverance Orient is a grey colt by Wolvendrift Raymond (Franelzi Ibn Ziyador x Saruk Akhiri) out of Perseverance Kohl (Franelzi El Barak x Condara Lee-Ann). His breeding was carefully planned and we are delighted with the result. He has five crosses to Barakah, a mare from Egypt that has had a huge influence on endurance breeding in South Africa. He covered his first mares this summer. By God's grace, Orient will give us some wonderful foals . |

Wow! Our first horse to be exported placed seventh in the Open Qatar Challenge at the European Championships. Perseverance Instinct, competing under the name of Basic Instinct, and ridden by H.H. Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain completed the 160km endurance course in just 8 hours and 45 minutes. Their achievement helped Bahrain win the silver medal in the team competiton. Earlier in the year Instinct and Shaikh Nasser won the Euston Park 160 km at Newmarket in 8 hours and 16 minutes.
Now they have come in 10th in the World Endurance Championships held in Terengganu, Malaysia in November 2008. Their team, took the bronze medal for Bahrain.
